Do You Need a Little Help?

This week I was honored to present a brief talk at a virtual monthly event put on by a local non-profit. The mission of A Little Help is to connect neighbors with older adults that might need…a little help. This allows them to stay in their homes, maintain independence and remain connected to their communities. In doing this, the organization strengthens community for people across all ages.

The job of the presenters at this month's talk was to inspire listeners to feel like travel is still a real possibility, to remind them that this isolating time will pass, and to both remember past experiences and look forward to new ones. My presentation offered simple ideas for making every day as inspiring as one's vacation travel days can be. I wrote on just this topic when I made suggestions in the article Life as Vacation.

The other presenters were equally inspiring, focusing on travel within Colorado, encouraging exploration of its many beautiful scenic byways and historical sites. It was VERY informative and provided sources for me to draw on when planning a vacation for visitors from out of state, as well as ideas for places to go any or every day of the week, if I choose.

If the idea of traveling seem a bit daunting to you at this time, please know you’re not alone. Maintaining one’s comfort level of safety remains integral, even as reports of infection and hospitalization go down. Now is not the time to throw caution to the wind, so if a getaway within your home state is about all you can muster, that’s nobody’s business but yours.

Ease into travel with a ‘staycation’ that changes the view outside your window, and refreshes your vision of what’s available in the beautiful state you call home; treat yourself to a new vibe, an outdoor adventure, pampering, and someone else’s turn in the kitchen in the form of haute cuisine, down home cooking, or flavors from afar. Blow the cobwebs out of your brain: experience plush bedding, a waterfall shower-head, or white glove service.

In my article last week I gave you one of my tools. The hotel booking tool is my way of offering you "a little help". Have you checked out the wealth of inspiration there? Those stunningly beautiful luxury destinations are beckoning, aren’t they? Vedic philosophy teaches that when we believe we are valuable we surround ourselves with luxury: comforts and pleasures beyond basic needs. Simple things like fresh cut flowers, scented oil for one's bath, a piece of delicious chocolate or beautiful music are all 'luxurious'.

Luxury travel is not about price; it’s about the feeling, and the experience of your stay, not the free wi-fi nor the value of amenities. The key to luxury travel is that it is designed just for you. It’s the warmth and attention, the hospitality and service, the memories you internalize, and these days it’s also about safety.

Planning now for your future getaway is exciting. Getting away now isn't out of the question, if that's what you wish. If you don't know where to go, or what to expect there, please call me. As your luxury travel designer, I’ll ensure that your next trip is easy and stress-free from the word 'go', and takes you beyond the ordinary. All you need is a little help.

'til next week.
